The Reset Impact Report 2023

research Nov 13, 2023

We listen to hundreds of employees and managers every year. These conversations include many with working parents, who make up the majority of the working population.

It’s hard to succeed as a working parent in 21st-century developed economies. The concept of the ideal worker requires an individual to meet all the demands of their employer. The concept of the ideal parent requires an individual to meet all the demands of their family. Inevitably, working parents feel guilt and pressure from both sides, impacting their effectiveness at work and your ability as an employer to retain them in the workplace.

The Reset Programme has been designed in response to these challenges. It builds skills in compromise, setting boundaries and managing expectations. It increases the use of strategies to navigate working parenthood. By participating in the programme, parents reported that their confidence in their own ability to effectively manage their career and parenting responsibilities increased 3.5 fold.

This is an extraordinary impact. Confident and capable working parents who have a range of skills and strategies to call on, are an asset in any organisation. It improves individual working lives and supports business growth. This is a beacon of optimism in the face of challenging economic, social and technological headwinds - demonstrating, once again, just how resourceful, adaptable and innovative humans are, with the right support in place - and it is this, above all else, that will enable businesses to thrive.
